Spelling Error Spells Trouble For Beach Wedding
A UK couple who spent $10,000 on a Caribbean wedding are still not legally married - because of a spelling mistake.
A clerk in the Dominican Republic, where the couple were married on a beach, spelt Mike Goodhall's surname with an 'e' instead of the first 'l'.
So Mike Goodhall and Heidi Loader returned the certificate asking for it to be amended but travel agent Thomas Cook says it had been lost along with the record of their booking.
A spokeswoman for Thomas Cook said that it was still investigating whether it was responsible for losing the wedding certificate.
Mike and Heidi have spent the past six months trying to rectify the problem to.
But as a result, the couple aren't legally married and Heidi has also been unable to get a passport or credit card in her married name.
