Iranian Police Proudly Report Captured Squirrel 'Spies'
Police in Iran have taken 14 squirrels into custody - for spying on the country.
Local media reports the squirrels were found near the Iranian border allegedly equipped with eavesdropping devices.
The reports have come from the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and confirmed by the national police chief.
The IRNA said that the squirrels were sent by foreign intelligence services - but were captured by alert police officers.
If true, this would not be the first time animals have been used to spy. During the Second World War, pigeons were used to fly vital intelligence out of occupied France.
Whatever the case, the story is, shall we say -- nuts.
