Suspicious Dynamite Turns Out To Be Novelty Alarm Clock
A suspicious device designed to looked like dynamite attached to an alarm clock that caused the evacuation of an area in New Jersey turned out to be nothing more than a novelty alarm clock.
Police was called to examine the suspicious package. Soon the bomb squad, fire department and police were on the scene.
Residents and store owners in the residential and light industrial community within a quarter mile vicinity were told to leave the area as a precaution. The device was destroyed then by the bomb squad -- but there was no explosion.
"I figured I better call somebody. It looked real to me. Apparently it looked real to them too," the man who discovered the device, John Bluhm, said.
It was found in a pile of household garbage next door to a local propane business.
