Giant Floating Condom In Netherlands Promotes Safe Sex

Concertgoers at a festival in Lichtenvoorde, Netherlands were treated to an unusual sight: a pink hot air balloon about 40 metres high, shaped exactly like a condom.

The balloon had the words "Vrij Veilig" on it - Dutch for "Safe Sex". It was launched by a local public health service provider.

The director of the health service said the festival was an ideal opportunity to reach young people with more than 80,000 expected to attend the three-day event. The festival featured motor-cross races and hard rock concerts.

Nurses on the concert grounds also handed out material and free condoms as part of the campaign.
