Woman Back At Job After Sex Romp With Co-Workers
Telstra, who sacked Carlie Streeter claiming she sexually harassed female colleagues by having sex with two male co-workers, just metres from where they were sleeping, has been ordered to take her back. ![]()
The incident occurred in the early hours of a morning following an after-hours staff party. Organised by a Telstra employee, the group met at a pub before going to a nearby restaurant. Four from the group also had a hotel room booked and planned to stay overnight.
After the party, they checked into the room and went to sleep. But one woman later woke up to find Streeter having sex with a co-worker just metres away from her. After 10 minutes, they went to the bathroom and were heard again having sex.
The female employee, Ms. Hyett, said she later woke up and needed to go the toilet but the bathroom door was locked. She was let in by Streeter anyway and found her, a co-worker and the store manager naked in the bath. The group remained in the bathroom while Hyett had to use it and so she had "stage fright."
The company's management subsequently fired Streeter for reasons including that "she sexually harassed the female employees by having sex in the room and being in the bath with the two males, and failing to treat Ms Hyett with respect by being present while she urinated."
But now it's been ruled Streeter was unjustly fired. The report says that the "sexual conduct took place in a hotel room, with the lights out, in the early hours of the morning, when Ms Streeter thought the other employees were asleep. Most of the conduct occurred well away from the workplace, after rather than during a work function, and in a hotel room that was booked and paid for privately."
Telstra has been ordered to re-employ Streeter and pay compensation equal to what she lost.
