Magazine's Boob Job Prize Sparks Outrage In Australia
An Australian men's magazine offering readers a "boob job" breast enhancement for their girlfriends is being investigated because of laws barring cosmetic surgery prizes. ![]()
Zoo Weekly, a men's mag which regularly features female celebrities (a few photos here and here), told readers they could win $10,000 Australian dollars for "a boob job for your girlfriend."
But the competition drew outrage from local minister Graham West, who ordered an investigation into whether the magazine had broken Lotteries laws, forbidding the offer of cosmetic surgery as a prize.
But magazine editor Paul Merrill is confident the competition is legal because it was simply offered cash, rather than the breast implants.
"If they choose to spend it on surgery they can. We've checked out all the legals," he said.
