California Peeper Sues To Get His Porn Back
A California man recently jailed for secretly videotaping a woman and a teenage girl has sued the police department for the return of his massive porn collection, which was taken during the investigation.
59-year-old Dennis Saunders filed the suit against San Rafael police after the department refused to give back his 500 pornographic movies and 250 magazines that his lawyer said were unrelated to the case.
"There's absolutely no legal foundation for them withholding perfectly legal adult-oriented material," his attorney Jon Rankin said, adding that the video collection alone was worth at least $10,000.
Saunders was arrested in 2002 after he was caught taping a 45-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl in their bedrooms and bathrooms at an apartment complex where he worked. He was sentenced to more than eight years in jail, but was released last month for good behavior.
A lawyer representing the city said the police will ask a judge whether the material should be returned to Saunders.
"If the court orders us to give it back to him, we will give it back to him," city lawyer Thomas Bertrand said.
