Man Committing Suicide In Lake Fails Because Of Drought
An Ohio man had to be pulled out of his car after a failed suicide attempt.
It all started when police received a call that a man had driven his vehicle into a lake. So officers got there as soon as they could.
Sgt. Jeff Sellars jumped in the water and swam to the car, and saw a man handcuffed to the steering wheel.
Sellars freed the man with a pair of bolt cutters, and pull him to safety.
When they finally got around to asking the man what he was doing handcuffed to the steering wheel in the lake, they found out he was trying to commit suicide, but his plan failed because the water was only a few feet deep.
"The water where the car went in was probably four to five feet deep," tells Chris Dauner, of East Fork State Park manager, to a local news station. "The man was apparently trying to commit suicide. Fortunately, the water at that location was much more shallow than usual because of the drought."
