Japanese Can Now Buy 'Stress-Relief Milk', For $40 A Bottle
A Japanese dairy company has announced the launch of 'super-premium' milk for stressed-out adults -- at the price of 5,000 yen, or roughly 43 dollars, for a bottle of 900 millilitres of the milk.
The Tokyo-based Nakazawa Foods says it will launch the 'Adult Milk' line of products next month targetting 'adults who live in a stressful society'.
Tokyo is famous for its high prices but the milk is nearly 30 times as expensive as ordinary milk in the city.
The company says its milk is taken from cows once a week at the break of dawn "as they discharge a lot of a stress-relieving hormone called melatonin during the night."
The milk is then bottled within six hours of milking.
They claim it contains three to four times as much melatonin as usual milk.
