Parrot Could Be Fined For 'Illegal Parking' In Greece

A parrot in the UK could be fined for illegal parking � for having a perch on the road outside a pet shop.

Coco the parrot, or rather his owner Lambros Mihalopoulos, is being threatened with a $85 fine by traffic police for illegal occupation of the road.

But Mihalopoulos refuses to pay for the space which Coco's perch takes up just off the kerb outside his shop in western Greece.

The popular parrot has become such a regular fixture on the road that he often chats to passers by.

In fact, it's not the first time that Coco and Lambros have been requested to pay � two years ago, the pet shop owner had to pay a fine for the same offence.

But this time Coco might be saved by the town's mayor, who has said he will intervene to try to find a solution to the argument.
