Japan Restaurant Uses Monkeys As Waiters
A Japanese restaurant is swinging into action to guard against a recession by changing the face of customer service -- with a little monkey business.
That's right when you order a beer at the Kayabuki Tavern in Tokyo your waiter will be a real monkey.
Five-year-old Fuchan and 12-year-old Yatchan will work the tables, give you hand towels, hand out ashtrays, deliver change and bring out drinks.
The monkeys can only work two hours a day due to animal rights regulations, and have been deemed sanitary by health inspectors as long as they wear their uniforms.
The restaurant owner, Kaoru Otsuka, admits it's a gimmick but one that is bringing in the customers and keeping his business open.
