Man Looking For Lost Dog, Loses His Car In River
Talk about bad luck. A man driven to find his lost dog also lost his car after he drove onto the frozen Black River in St. Clair County, accidentally locked his keys in the car, and watched it sink.
The Times Herald reports that the running engine and heat from the 1994 Buick's exhaust pipe melted ice beneath the car and pulled it under.
A police dive team is expected to help pull the car from the frigid river off about 55 miles northeast of Detroit.
"It happens a lot more downriver, in Anchor Bay," County Sheriff Lt. Matt Paulus said about sinking vehicles.
"The river freezes solid and is often used by snowmobiles and cars during winter months... we usually get a couple a year. We already had two snowmobiles go in last week."
The man is still looking for his dog -- now, most likely on foot.
