Man Thrown Over Balcony After Argument Over Sex
An Australia man was thrown over a 13 feet-high balcony after refusing to leave an apartment until he'd had sex with the tenant's wife.
The man who threw Christopher Steven Jones off his roof, Steven Bartley, has pleaded guilty to committing one count of grievous bodily harm - after the charge was downgraded from attempted murder. Bartley has been sentenced to two and a half years prison.
It all began, as most such stories do, after Bartley and his wife left the a tavern after an eight-hour drinking session. After sharing a cab home with Jones and another man, the four decided to go back to Bartley's apartment to participate in group sex -- something they used to engage in often, as a court heard.
But when they arrived home, Bartley went to sleep while the woman had oral sex with Jones.
When the third man tried to get in on the action, the woman became agitated and woke Bartley up.
Bartley then asked the two men to leave the apartment, but Jones refused.
"I'm not leaving until I have sex with your missus," he told Bartley sitting on a couch with his penis visible.
After about 15 minutes of shouting and a phone call to police, Bartley "lost it" and shoved Jones out the door and over a balcony railing. Jones fell more than 13 feet onto a concrete surface, and had to be rushed to hospital where he received life-saving surgery to treat a fractured skull.
In handing down the sentence, Justice Debra Mullins told Bartley he should have been more understanding: "The complainant seemed to think he was going to stay in the unit for the purpose he had originally gone to the unit for. That did not entitle you to use force in the degree you did, in the dangerous situation you were in."
