British Home Secretary Claims Porn Film As Expenses
British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is under official investigation after her expense list -- all charged to the U.K. taxpayer -- was leaked to the media.
Smith's list of charges includes small and not-so-small expenses like a toothbrush, doormat, barbecue set, a washing machine and two adult entertainment movies.
Yes, evidently, Smith's husband, Richard Timney, got so caught up in charging the taxpayer for every cent he and his MP wife spent, that he "accidentally" put the porn movies he watched on the list as work-related.
Smith admits it was a 'bad mistake' but has refused to resign over her expenses.
"This was a mistake, it was a mistake that we both made. It was a claim that should not have got within a million miles of being claimed and that is why as soon as it was brought to my attention, I said I am sorry, it was wrong and I paid the money back," she says. "I don't believe it has stopped me from doing my job."
Smith has come under fire for her expenses after she declared her sister's London home as her main residence -- rather than the home where her husband and two sons live -- since she is allowed to claim costs for the running of a second home.
The beleaguered minister has some of the highest expense claims of any MP -- totalling over $230,000 since 2001.
