Italian Escapes Air France Crash But Dies In Accident Days Later

An Italian woman, who narrowly avoided becoming a victim of the Air France plane crash, has been killed in a car crash in Austria.

Johanna Ganthaler and her husband Kurt were on vacation in Brazil and were supposed to take Air France Flight 447 back to Paris.

But in a stroke of luck, the couple showed up late at the Rio de Janeiro airport and missed the flight.

All 228 people aboard the doomed flight were killed after the plane crashed into the Atlantic four hours into its flight.

The couple decided to take another flight to Europe the next day and were driving to their home in Italy's Bolzano-Bozen province when their car veered across a road in Austria, and swerved into an oncoming truck.

The woman was declared dead at the scene and her husband has been seriously injured.

This is the kind of story that you have to doublecheck to believe, but it's now being reported by the 'New York Daily News', 'Sky News' and Italy's ANSA news agency.
