New York Hotel Tells Exhibitionists To Close Curtains
Red-faced managers at a New York hotel have promised to tell its exhibitionist guests to cover up.
The Standard Hotel, which towers over the newly opened High Line park, features floor-to-ceiling windows -- and apparently more than a few guests who don't mind leaving their curtains wide open and giving passers-by a view.
The New York Daily News reports that in recent days, it has spotted guests having sex, masturbating, flashing to people below, and others just generally frolicking to the amazement of tourists taking in the sights.
Christine Quinn, City Council Speaker, has called the behaviour "unacceptable."
"The hotel will make a concerted effort to remind guests of the transparency of the guest room windows," management officials say in a statement. "The hotel has always been sensitive to the concerns of its friends and neighbors."
Still, people who have heard about the hotel apparently flock to the park to see what they can spot.
"It would be shocking in London but New York is all about showing off," one tourist tells the paper.
Ironically, when the Standard opened, it used the large windows as a way to advertise to exhibitionists.
"We'll put up with your banging if you'll put up with ours," it said in one ad. "Those floor to ceiling windows aren't just for the views."
