Teenagers Say They 'Filmed Sex Act' Fearing 'Doomsday'
Here's a new one. Students at a high school in Australia say they filmed sex acts of themselves because they believed that the Large Hadron Collider would end the world.
At least three teenagers from the Brisbane state high school are being investigated by police for filming themselves on a cell phone and distributing it to other students, reports the 'Courier-Mail'.
Two students aged between 13 and 15 reportedly performed filmed the acts in the school bathroom during school hours several months ago.
The incident occurred just after the launch of the particle accelerator ring, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which some have dubbed a "doomsday device".
The girl involved told investigators that she wanted to lose her virginity to the boy because she thought the world was about to end.
Police have warned that anyone found distributing the footage could be charged with producing child pornography, although that is unlikely given the age of the students.
Education Queensland has since tried to inform parents of the 'inappropriate use of technology' through school newsletters.
"When principals become aware that these devices have been used to distribute unauthorised images or images of violence, appropriate disciplinary action is taken in accordance with the school's Responsible Behaviour Plan," says a spokesman.
