Miss Tahiti 2003 Stripped Of Crown

Miss Tahiti 2003 has been stripped of her place in the record books for posing nude in a magazine spread, the beauty pageant's organiser said.

The committee said the unanimous decision on Wednesday to dethrone 22-year-old communications student Heitiare Tribondeau was made to respect the public of French Polynesia and to promote a healthy and positive image of Polynesian women.

Tribondeau, who was fourth runner up in the Miss France 2004 contest, posed naked in nature settings for a six-page spread in the June edition of a local magazine.
