Jessica Simpson Takes Advantage Of 'Duke' Role
Jessica Simpson makes her feature debut as Daisy Duke in 'The Dukes of Hazzard'. The pop star is one of a growing number of stars following in the footsteps of others like Madonna and Jennifer Lopez who want to conquer all aspects of the entertainment industry.
But she fears her new movie will flop because people see her as a singer and not a movie star and hopes there will be no critical backlash concerning her acting skills. However, she has taken advantage of the starring role, timing her single 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' which follows a similar theme.
However, a Christian organisation was irate with the video for the single and demanded that she shoot a less raunchy one. The organisation emphasised that Simpson should have been a Christian role model, since her father is a pastor. "It's sad to see her whore herself like this. She's a singing stripper", a group spokesperson said. The video can be seen here.
In any case, we have some great shots of Jessica Simpson dressed up for her role of Daisy Duke in the August movie below.
Meanwhile, a star of the original 'Dukes of Hazzard' series, Ben Jones, who played "Cooter", blasted the new film version to be released in August as a "profanity-laced script with blatant sexual situations that mocks the good clean family values of our series".
In an open letter to fans of the show, Jones says that "rather than honoring our legendary show, they have chosen to degrade it". He closes by saying that fans should send the producers a message that says, "If you don't clean it up, we're not going to see it".
Finally, we all know how bad conditions have gotten in Iraq. Here's more evidence of how little is being shown in the American media. When Simpson and husband Nick Lachey travelled to the war-torn nation to visit US troops as part of a recent ABC TV variety special, they were both left shellshocked by what they saw. But all the controversial moments and harrowing footage of the trip didn't appear in the fun-filled TV show.
Simpson says, "It was unbelievable. They didn't show a lot of what really went on with the enemy attacks and the shelling. There was so much stuff that went on and somehow the tapes got mysteriously misplaced".
"It put everything in perspective for me. It really did teach me the definition of sacrifice. I can't even fathom being out there right now. I was ready to come home".
