Simpsons character to come out of the closet
Fans of hit cartoon The Simpsons are poised for big news - one of the show's long-time characters is set to reveal he's gay.

Producer Al Jean says: "We have a show where, to raise money, Springfield legalises gay marriage. Homer becomes a minister by going on the internet and filling out a form. A longtime character comes out of the closet, but I'm not saying who".
Show creator Matt Groening jokes, "It's Homer!"
UPDATE:
We finally know which Simpsons character is gay.
Marge Simpson's chain-smoking sister Patty Bouvier will come out of the closet. It seems lady-loving ladies are all over the TV dial. In fact, if you've been watching TV recently same-sex storylines have been popping up all over the tube, you might be forgiven for thinking that there are hardly any heterosexual women left on network television.
Patty's revelation is a little surprising though. We thought that Waylon Smithers, Montgomery Burns' longsuffering assistant/admirer, would come out and reveal his love for his mercurial boss.
But as many others have pointed out, Smithers' love may not have been directed at men an general; he was, as the phrase goes, "burnsexual," or only smitten with Montgomery Burns.
