Egyptian's 'Fiancee' Actually A Man

On his wedding day this week, an Egyptian man discovered that his fiancee of three years was actually a man who had been concealing his identity behind a veil.

The 26-year-old groom, Tamer Shehata, was notified by a female guest attending his wedding that his wife-to-be was actually a man posing a woman. When Shehata confronted his 'fiancee', he broke down and revealed that he was actually an 18-year-old man named Ahmed Abo Zeid.

Zeid confessed and said that he had tried several times to undergo a sex change but had failed to secure doctors' approval.

Zeid, whose face had been obscured throughout the years by a burka (face veil) said he had intended to tell him after they were married, and had hoped to convince the groom would consummate the marriage.

Zeid was arrested by authorities and is being held for 45 days on charges of fraud.
