German Thief Leaves Trail For Police

A bungling German thief unknowingly left a trail of feathers similar to the crumbs of bread in 'Hansel and Gretel' that led police from the crime scene right to his front door.

Police in the city of Bochum said the man tore open his quilted jacket as he broke into a shop to steal a karaoke set and failed to notice it was leaking feathers all the way home.

A witness who was nearby saw the break-in and told police.

Police were able to get there quickly and police spokesman Frank Plewka said: "Luckily they were able to act before the next story was played out - 'Gone with the Wind'", he joked. "All they had to do was follow the feathers".

The 36-year-old thief was shocked when police came knocking at his door after he thought he had gotten away.
