Police said the stolen item actually worth close to $1.7 million.
They believe the suspected thieves had no idea how much the package was worth when they took it from a front porch. "This wasn't an underground conspiracy for this type of equipment. They had no idea of the value of this thing," a police spokeswoman said.
The stolen item was high-tech equipment that measured radio frequencies and was used by cell phone companies. A delivery truck dropped it off but the 70-pound box was stolen before the woman even knew it had arrived. She assumed that it hadn't been delivered, but reported it stolen after she found it had been delivered.
Police investigated the theft and found it at the pawnshop. And as luck would have it, as they were picking it up, the man who pawned it came back to the shop to get more money for the equipment.
