Serbian Prisoner Sews His Lips And Tongue
A Serbian prisoner using a needle, thread and safety pins stitched his lips and tongue together so he wouldn't have to attend a scheduled court hearing in his robbery case. ![]()
The prisoner, Zoran Raskovic, was in custody at Belgrade's central prison and was one of six people charged for a 2003 bank heist where, it is suspected, the group got away with over $120,000.
A prison guard discovered Raskovic the morning after he had apparently sewed his mouth together. Police say the needle and the safety pins were likely smuggled into the prison.
A prison surgeon was called in to removed the stitches, but Raskovic got his wish as he was too weak to appear in court due to the loss of blood.
