Suspected Thief Robs Judge At His Own Trial

A 61-year-old German man on trial for theft got himself into more trouble when he stole from the judge during his own court hearing!

Police in the central town of Coburg say that while facing the judge at the bench, the man pocketed a bunch of keys from her, who did not notice until he had left the room.

When confronted by officials later, the man, who had a string of convictions for theft, told them he was "shocked" to find the keys in his pocket.

Police spokesman Bernhard Schmitt said: "He'd been stealing all his life so it was probably just an intuitive act".

Puzzled, the court officials decided to be temporarily suspended the man's case, now that the appointed judge likely had a bias against the suspected thief.
