Tourist Blames 'Lack Of Goats' For Speeding
A Swiss tourist blames Canada's lack of goats on the roads as a reason for his speeding through the countryside after police nabbed him.
The driver was caught traveling 161 kilometers (100 miles) per hour on Canada's busiest highway between Montreal and Toronto. The posted speed limit no the road is 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour.
"An officer stopped the car for speeding along a straight stretch of road and the driver told him he thought it would be alright to go fast because he wasn't likely to hit a goat", Constable Joel Doiron said.
"I've never been to Switzerland, but I guess there must be a lot of goats there", he said. When asked by reporters, Doiron said that in his 20 years as a police officer, "nobody's ever used the lack of goats here as an excuse for speeding".
