Parents Kidnap Bride So She Misses Wedding

The Utah parents of a bride-to-be told their daughter they were taking her on a shopping trip, but then drove to Colorado and kept her there against her will until she missed the wedding.

The Redds told their 21-year-old daughter they were taking her on a shopping trip and then drove 240 miles. The husband-to-be, Perry Myers, called police when his bride didn't attend a pre-wedding dinner with his parents that night.

"I've never had a case quite like this", Utah County Attorney Kay Bryson says.

The Redds spent the night in Colorado and drove back the next day. They arrived after the young couple was supposed to have been married in a ceremony that day.

"I was totally confused and manipulated", the daughter, Julianna Myers, says. She said she supports the charges and hopes her parents get help.

But the parents plan didn't work as the couple simply married a few days later. Lemuel and Julia Redd have been charged with kidnapping and could face up to 15 years in prison.
