Woman Charged With Drunk Horse Riding

Heather Darnell of Mountain City in Georgia is facing a drunk driving charge after she steered the horse she was riding onto a highway and tangled with a car.

The horse and Darnell were not badly injured and are in fair condition.

However, three people who were in the Pontiac Bonneville that struck the horse had to be treated at a hospital including the driver, a 13-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy.

Trooper Anthony Coleman said it doesn't matter whether you are driving a car or riding a horse if you're drunk.

"If it's on the public right-of-way, you're under the same jurisdiction as if you're in a car," Coleman said.
