Islanders Reunite After Finding Bridge On Internet
An Island community that was divided by a storm was reunited after a replacement bridge was found on the internet.
Residents in Orkney, UK were cut off from the rest of the island when a torrent of floodwater severely damaged their bridge.
And with their only road link unable to be used, they were left isolated from the island's doctor, school, ambulance, and shops.
But their search for a replacement bridge ended when, using the internet, they discovered an older but suitable structure on the internet.
A spokesman says the 40 ft Bailey-type bridge can handle vehicles weighing up to 44 tonnes could be in place for up to six weeks.
