Bosnian Town Plans To Make A Cabbage Statue

Some towns may want to honour their war heroes but the Bosnian town of Bijeljina plans to erect a massive monument to its most important vegetable - a cabbage.

The mayor of the town, Mico Micic, says local cabbage producers and citizens have wanted to honour the vegetable because it is a staple food for the region.

"We have agreed to the plans to erect a monument to cabbage. It is the vegetable that feeds the people in this region and is important. It deserves recognition", Micic says.

The giant cabbage monument, to be designed by local artists, will be unveiled sometime next year.
