Man Sets Guinness Rubber Band Ball Record
After building a huge ball out of more than 175,000 rubber bands, Steve Milton made his way into the record books for the world's largest rubber band ball.
The ball that weighs 4,594 pounds and is 5 1/2 feet high and 19 feet around was certified as the world's largest by Guinness World Records officials.
Milton watched as four bodybuilders rolled the multicolored, rubbery mass onto a giant scale for the official weigh-in.
He raised his arms upon hearing his ball beat the previous record of 3,120-pounds.
"I feel very excited right now. It's just amazing; it's out of this world," said Milton, who has been building the ball since November of last year.
Milton credited his record to working on the ball everyday.
"We tried to do at least ten to 20 pounds a day", said Milton. He says he moved the ball to the garage after he realised the ball would soon be too big to fit through the door.
Milton's fiancee says she thought at first that her family might be a little crazy. "I was wondering," Johnson said. "But it turned into a fun project for all of us".
