Buddhist Monk Cuts Off His Own Penis

A Thai Buddhist monk in Bangkok cut off his penis with a machete because he had an erection during meditation.

He then said he did not want it reattached and that he had renounced all 'earthly cares'.

When he was taken to hospital, the 35-year-old monk allowed medical staff to dress his wound, but refused reattachment.

"We cleaned up the wound, gave him some stitches, but he declined to have it reattached because he said had abandoned everything", hospital chief Prawing Euanontouch said.
