Baltimore police say the woman appeared at the prison claiming to be an attorney for inmate Jason Moody, who is serving 30 years for manslaughter. She had a security identification pass complete with photo with her, identifying her as Amanda Sprehn of a law firm. She also handed jail officials a business card with Sprehn's name.
Once she was alone with Moody, things got steamy and the two began having sex. However, corrections officials that monitor such visits for safety saw the couple and cut the visit short.
And there really is an Amanda Sprehn. "I was out on maternity leave", Sprehn says in an interview. "They (her law firm) informed me they received a letter saying I had been caught having sex with an inmate which was a real laugh".
"I haven't a clue how she got onto my identity", Sprehn said. "My reputation is at stake. There were already rumors circulating about me... my colleagues had to squash the rumors".
"It was an elaborate scheme", says a spokesperson for the prison system. "I'm not aware of something like this ever occurring before".
The woman, Tiffany Gwen Weaver, faces up to 10 years in prison.authorities said.
