Skydiver Miraculously Survives 15,000 Ft Fall
A British skydiver cheated death when his parachute failed to open during a 15,000 ft. fall by landing in a blackberry bush.
Amazingly, twenty-five year old Michael Holmes escaped with a punctured lung and a broken ankle.
In a stroke of bad luck, the professional skydiver's parachute became tangled and his reserve also failed to open. But after plunging towards the earth at more than 100 mph, he survived by landing in a thick blackberry bush, which cushioned his fall.
Holmes is a cameraman who films parachute jumps, where he has worked for several years. He was found unconscious by police in a conservation area.
An eyewitness says: "One of the skydivers was coming down and going round and round. He looked like he was all tangled up or something. He just came down, straight down".
Holmes says: "When my reserve failed to open at 1000ft, I thought my life was over. You do not have much time to say goodbye".
"I just thought: I'm going to die' and the next thing I remember is seeing a friend, firemen, ambulances and police dogs. I'm glad to be alive".
