What Do People Around The World Eat On Christmas?
Everything from dogs to bats will be on dinner tables around the world this Christmas, including very little turkey throughout most of Asia.
Let's start with Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country which also has a substantial Christian community. Locals here will celebrate Christmas with delicacies such as pork soaked in blood and dog meat.
While in the eastern island of Sulawesi, some celebrate with garden rats, cooked with chilies and garlic, or bats cooked in coconut milk.
In Japan, people simply head to Kentucky Kentucky Fried Chicken or another fast food joint for on Christmas. Some fast food restaurants do such roaring business over the Christmas period that restaurants turn away customers if they haven't booked their chicken in advance.
And down under, where Christmas falls in high summer, an Australian Christmas lunch is more likely to be seafood and salad than roast turkey and pudding.
