Oiled Prisoner Slips Out Of Jail, Literally

A man held on suspicion of theft in a Norway jail slipped out of custody � literally � by stripping naked, smearing himself with vegetable oil and sliding through the prison bars.

"He slipped through the bars", said operation leader Svein-Erik Jacobsen. The unusual escape is making national news in Norway.

Another man, held as an accomplice in the same cell, also tried to use the technique to slip out of a window but failed because he was too big. The men had also managed to bend the bars slightly to gain more space.

"It was a good effort", admitted Jacobsen. "But all he did was get his head and part of his shoulder through the bars".

The man who got away remains at large.
