Austrian Bride's 'Joke' Delays Wedding
An Austrian couple have had their marriage postponed for 10 weeks because the bride thought it would be funny to say no "no" as a joke when the registrar asked during the ceremony whether she would take this man to be her husband.
Despite the pleas of the bride, who said she just meant it as a joke, the officiating registrar broke off the heavily attended ceremony and said they would have to wait for at least 10 weeks.
Apparently, Austrian regulations say there must be a postponement of at least 10 weeks should there be such a response when asked during the ceremony whether he or she consents to the union.
A spokesman says this is to ensure that a person cannot be forced into saying "yes" to the union under pressure from the family.
