Jeep Runs Over Virginia Man, While He's In Bed

The underside of a car is a familiar sight to auto mechanic Dean Blevins. But even he was surprised when he saw one on top of him at 2:30 in the morning, while he was in bed.

You see, a Jeep crashed through a wall of his apartment early and pinned him in his bed as he slept. It took firefighters an hour to free him, but luckily he suffered only minor bruises and scrapes.

As he saw the vehicle's engine above him and felt hot antifreeze splash onto his face, Blevins says, his first thought wasn't about his injuries but the driver.

"If I'd a had my gun, I'd a probably shot him", he said.

The driver has been charged with drunk driving.

The Jeep's windshield got snagged between the first and second floors of the wood-frame building, which is probably what saved Blevins from being crushed.

"I'm lucky to be alive", he said.
