Boy's Vacuum Expertise Earns Him TV Appearance
A 12-year-old boy who has collected more than 150 vacuum cleaners considers himself a vacuum expert and says he is now learning to identify them by sound.
"I'm getting pretty good at it", a proud Kyle Krichbaum says.
Kyle has been in Hollywood taping a game-show pilot where he will compete against other contestants blindfolded and correctly identify vacuum models.
He said he got his first working model at age 3 and keeps part of his collection in his room.
"When I was really little I would always follow my parents around when they were vacuuming", he says.
His parents, Randy and MaryLynn Krichbaum, say their son played with a toy vacuum constantly as a toddler.
"At first we thought it was something he would grow out of because babies like noisy things. But his interest just grew stronger and stronger... where he gets it from, I don't know".
Kyle, whose hobby also has landed him a guest appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", says he has wants to own a vacuum shop one day.
