Shoe Fitting Leads To Driver's Arrest After Crash
There was a mysterious shoe and a fitting to find its rightful owner. There was even a wedding. But, unfortunately for the owner of the shoe, there was no happily ever after.
The story begins with a van plowing into the bathroom of a house in Florida. Residents Sandy McCombie and Michael Toth, watched the van's driver flee across their front lawn but he left a shoe behind.
The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating about an hour later when they noticed a man around the scene, John Glen Aquista.
The man was slightly bloody, wearing only boxer shorts and, most important, shoeless. Aquista denied involvement in the crash, but the van was registered to his address.
So the trooper asked him to slip on the wayward shoe and "it was a perfect fit".
Aquista has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and driving without a valid license.
